HeggPaul2Paul Ode Hegg has led Hegg Companies Inc. as president and CEO since 2002. He is the third Hegg to lead the company. Two decades ago, Paul began his career in commercial real estate with the Hegg Companies Inc. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1999, Paul assumed responsibility for managing the Commercial Real Estate Sales and Leasing Division and overseeing the division’s day-to-day operations. During this period, he also received the professional designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). Paul also is a certified member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), a professional symbol representing the highest level of knowledge, production and ethics in the real estate industry.

Paul’s thorough understanding of commercial real estate, development, syndications and hospitality management, combined with his straightforward, honest and enthusiastic approach to doing business, has provided the foundation for many long-term client relationships and company growth. Paul is responsible for oversight of hospitality development and management, commercial brokerage, commercial property management, asset management, development and Esprit Memory Care residential facilities, which are designed to serve people suffering from dementia. He is also involved in the ownership and oversight of six John Deere Dealerships, the ownership and management of commercial real estate investment properties and the daily oversight of family trusts.

As president and CEO, he has led the family-owned company to fresh opportunities in hospitality management and expanded the company’s business ventures into the Bakken oil-producing region of western North Dakota. In 2014, Paul won the Commercial Investment Real Estate Magazine’s “Deal Makers” award for the $45 million equity and debt financing of the Minot North Highlands luxury apartment development.

Paul currently serves on the Prairie Family Business board, and in past years, has been a board member of the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, Lutheran Social Services, Habitat for Humanity and others. He graduated in 1992 from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
